FeelFree Overdrive Pedal&Motor system

Hobie, be aware last year was a year when a lot of kayak manufacturers introduced a pedal drive to their kayak product range, and FeelFree is among them.

At ICAST 2016 FeelFree presented their pedal and motor system prototype. It’s not on the market yet; rumor says it is expected to come before summer 2017.  Although Wilderness Systems already released their kayak with both pedal and motor propulsion which makes them pioneers, Feelfree is the first one who incorporated motor drive into pedal system. Motor just plugs into the pedal drive and from there is easily switched either to pedal or motor propulsion. Pedal system comes with 20:1 ratio with the propeller and possibility of changing a „gears“to suit your peddling speed and power.

The best thing about it is that this system doesn’t come with a brand new kayak. It’s actually built for existing customers that have Lure 11,5 and 13,5 models. This system fits all newer Lure models that come with sonar pod and can be placed in the existing hole. We applaud to that move.

A movie from the ICAST taken by Headwaters kayak crew:

If you were thinking of buying FeelFree Lure now you have a reason more, or two. Hopefully system will be released soon.

After falling in love in fishing as a young boy I never looked back. I am grateful to my grandfather for embedding the love and passion for fishing and nature into my life and for all the hours and patience spent fishing with me. The older I get the more I realize how valuable gift that was. Thank You!! My passion for fishing, sports, movement, nature and people led me to become a fitness trainer and to dive deeper into science of human movement, nutrition and health. After getting a long lusted fishing kayak which I was dreaming about for years a whole new world and horizons opened. With a kayak my fishing got a new meaning and is getting to a new higher level. Kayak fishing perfectly conjoined my passion for fishing, movement and exploring, making my bonds with nature and appreciating life beauty to become even more intense. I am looking forward to this journey, and as a father of two I hope I will transfer at least a piece of my love for fishing and nature preservation to them.
